Sanae Rosen Selected for Margaret Ayers Host Award

CSE graduate student Sanae Rosen, working with Prof. Z. Morley Mao in the RobustNet Research Group, has been selected for the Margaret Ayers Host Award by the Rackham School of Graduate Studies at the University of Michigan.

Sanae is interested in mobile device networking, and in particular measuring factors affecting network performance, improving performance and reducing data consumption, and helping devices and applications automatically adjust to changing network conditions. One recent project has involved shifting traffic from cellular to WiFi networks by predicting future network requests and fetching data hours in advance.  Another recent project has been on understanding the effects of carrier-specific radio configuration parameters on user-perceived performance using crowdsourced measurements.

About the Award

Margaret Ayers Host received a Rackham degree in 1942. She studied at Oxford, was President of the Alumni Association, Chair of the Alumnae Council, member of the Board in Control of Intercollegiate Athletics, and a member of the Rackham Board of Governors. The Margaret Ayers Host Award was established to honor her remarkable contributions as a woman scholar and to the University of Michigan community.

Recipients of the Margaret Ayers Host Award will have demonstrated exceptional scholarly achievement, a sense of social responsibility and service, and a lively interest in promoting the success of women in the academic community.
